The Sprawl - Pitch Art

I was the sole artist on a team developing a Johnny Mnemonic streaming series. The project was shelved when the pandemic hit. It was mandated from the start that we avoid the traditional cyberpunk trappings. No black leather, no neon. There was so much neon in the early versions.

This version of the story takes place years after a global collapse brought on by uncontrolled climate change. Millions of people were displaced and surviving cities are rebuilt and transformed. The different eras are visibly layered on top of each other. Tropical plants fill the city, and cars aren’t of much use because large portions of the roads are permanently flooded.

Shia LaBeouf and Zac Efron were the top picks for Johnny, a lovable fuckup who’s completely useless in a fight.

I’m mostly just upset that I didn’t get to do more with Jones the Dolphin. He was going to be one of the main characters.
